Fechas confirmadas para la gira de U2

¿Qué se cuece en el 2005?

Desde esgüeet jaane en su afán por mantener informada a la humanidad, estaremos al tanto de las novedades que vayan surgiendo este año sin olvidarnos de los grandes clásicos.
De momento, hay que estar atentos a los próximos lanzamientos de THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS ("Push the button"), A GUY CALLED HERALD ("To all things what they need") - y es que parece ser que llega de nuevo una época de revival de la eléctronica en plan acid house- un par de singles ("Loving you is easy") a la espera del disco completo de THE CHARLATANS, MERCURY REV ("The secret migration"), el nuevo trabajo de BECK despues de dos años que se llamará Guero, previsto su lanzamiento para Marzo, el nuevo disco de LA HABITACION ROJA ("Nuevos tiempos") o de DELUXE (previsto para Abril) y se esperan con ansiedad los nuevos trabajos anunciados para este año de NEW ORDER o COLDPLAY.
Como novedades en el panorama musical, habrá que estar atentos al nacimiento de artistas como MYLO ("Destroy rock&roll"). MAXIMO PARK, JEM ("Finally woken") o HOOBAS TANK.
En otro orden de cosas, en breve saldrá a la luz el esperadísimo disco doble recopilatario "esgüeet jaane 04", disco que compilará los mejores temas editados el año pasado.
En cuanto a visitas y conciertos, muy pronto os daremos noticias sobre la visita de U2, dentro de la gira mundial presentación de su último disco.

Desde Dublín, salvando al mundo con banderas blancas y proclamando el pacifismo como religión, los flamantes GANADORES del jaane de oro y por lo tanto, mejor disco del 2004 para

"HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB" de U2

Discazo de Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen y Adam Clayton.
Realmente no es fácil encontrar un disco flojo desde que en 1980 sacaran su primer largo "Boy", y es que U2 tienen la rara habilidad de evolucionar y amoldarse a las diferentes tendencias que transcurren en el tiempo. Que hay que ponerse apocalíptico en los 80, sacamos la bandera blanca. Que hay que dar una vuelta de tuerca al rock a finales de los 80 , sacamos The Joshua Tree, hacemos uno de los discos más grandes de la historia de la música y encima vendemos millones de copias sin que nos tachen de comerciales. Que en los 90 lo que triunfa es la eletrónica, pues la acoplamos a nuestro estilo para no perder la identidad y sacamos "Achtung baby" y "Zooeuropa". ¿Y en el siglo XXI? Pues como somos grandes, no nos hace falta el dinero para comer y estamos en la relajación de la madurez de los cuarenta y tantos, sacamos los discos de ROCK como los sentimos, seguimos dando clases a todos los demás de como hacer música de cálidad y además nos ponemos serios con los problemas del mundo con "How to dismantle an atomic bomb".
Es dificil no ser un poco fan de U2, aunque su grandeza apabulla y queda mejor declararse no-fan porque nos gustan más "ese grupo megararo de culto que no conoce casi nadie" pero si nos regimos por el tema estrictamente musical, éste disco es muy bueno, desde el single "Vertigo", rock sin aditivos, contundente y directo (y con esos guiños al castellano por si acaso ese mercado se nos duerme), hasta la delicada balada "Sometimes you can´t make on your own" dedicada al padre de Bono y que recuerda temas del "Rattle and Hum", pasando por "Love and Peace or else", con claras influencias de la crudeza del blues americano pasado por el tamiz sonoro de The Edge, inconmesurable en todo el disco, o "City of blinding lights", U2 en estado puro, los del Joshua Tree, con esa base rítmica acompasada de fondo que aparece y desaparece para dejar a Bono contar y cantar en su pegadizo estribillo.
Son tan grandes que sacan un disco buenísimo (sin ser el mejor de su carrera-pasa como con The Cure-), tan bueno que hace que indies, no indies, melómanos y no tanto se pongan de acuerdo y se oiga habitualmente "me gustan mucho U2".

Pelos cardados, labios pintados y ambientes oscuros para el ganador del jaane de plata:
"THE CURE" de The Cure.
Sin ser el mejor disco de The Cure en su extensa andadura, han hecho un trabajo digno de su fama y trayectoria (ver archivos de Diciembre), que recuerda al "Wish" del 92 unas veces, al "Disintegration" del 89 otras y con toques de la época oscura de principios de los 80 ("17 seconds" o "Faith"), siempre creando esos ambientes mágicos e inquietantes y con un toque en este caso de crudeza instrumental que les basta para seguir siendo uno de los grandes grupos de referencia aún en el 2004.
